Editorial: Root Cause

The Michigan Assembly is currently having difficulty generating momentum to finish assembling The Four Pillars.

The MFP suggests the General Assembly might consider conducting an analysis to identify the true cause of the problem so it can take corrective action.

SC  ASSEMBLY STREET  In 1786, when Columbia was established as the state capital, the General Assembly decided that two principal thoroughfares should run perpendicular to each other through the center of the town.  One of these, Assembly Street, was named for the General Assembly, which first met in Columbia in 1790 in South Carolina's new State House, a building designed by James Hoban, who later designed the White House.

BRIGADIER GENERAL OF MILITIA IN THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION, MEMBER OF THE FIRST AND SECOND PROVINCIAL CONGRESSES, COMMANDER OF THE 1775 SNOW CAMPAIGN AND ANCESTOR OF SIX GOVERNORS OF SOUTH CAROLINA.  HE WAS TAKEN PRISONER BY THE BRITISH IN 1780 AND BECAME MORTALLY ILL WHILE IN CAPTIVITY.  MAIN STREET IN COLUMBIA WAS FIRST NAMED RICHARDSON STREET.  WHEN THIS PORTION OF MAIN STREET WAS CLOSED TO CREATE A MALL, THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY VOTED TO RESTORE ITS ORIGINAL NAME.

SC  RICHARDSON STREET  Columbia's chief business street, Main, was first named Richardson Street for Richard Richardson (1704-1780).  This Virginia native settled in present Clarendon County, served in the "Snow Campaign" of 1775, was commissioned Brigadier General in 1778, was a member of the Commons House of Assembly, the First and Second Provincial Congresses, and the First General Assembly.  Six S.C. Governors are among his descendants.

SC  SENATE STREET  The South Carolina General Assembly created Columbia as the state's capital city in 1786, and Senate Street was named for the upper house of that legislative body.  In 1790, the General Assembly, which designated that the town be located on the Congaree River near Fridery's [sp?] Ferry, first met in Columbia in the new State House, designed by James Hoban, who later designed the White House.

Editorial: How To Look Presentable On Video

Those who are participating in Land Jurisdiction Government are doing so over the Internet.  That means they must present themselves on a video camera.

People are used to seeing Media "talking heads" read the news.  They know what looks right, but when it comes to doing it themselves they generally do not know where to start.

That is the purpose of this editorial, to help people present themselves in flattering ways so others might take them seriously.  The Public can be very critical and are likely to dismiss a presentation if it looks sub-standard to what they are used to seeing.

This is what we should be aiming for...

Try to do what the professionals do.

Filling the frame of the picture gives the audience a good view of our body language, which conveys the most information when we communicate in person.  Body language is the reason why video works so well and we should take advantage of that when we are speaking or participating in a discussion.

Showing a lot of space above our head not only wastes screen area we could be using, it makes us look like a clown.  In the language of film/television, a lot of headspace creates an expectation that something is going to fall on our head.  Letting the top of our head almost touch the top of the screen is good.

Professional newsreaders are reading what they are saying.  There is a teleprompter giving them words and the camera lens is right behind it, which makes them appear to be looking into the lens and at the audience.  We do not have teleprompters, but we can do things to put our camera as close as possible to what we are reading or looking at.

Our Camera

I readily admit I generally do not even look people in the eye when I am speaking to them in person, and I do not like being on camera either, but it is part of the job.

When I looked for a camera to purchase, I found this...

The cable attached to the camera can be adjusted to position the lens anywhere in front of my computer screen, and it is quite small so it does not block much.  I can position what I am reading just below the lens so it appears I am close to reading from a teleprompter.

It's not perfect because there are generally videos of other people on my screen and I might be looking at them down in the corner as I am speaking, but it is a useful tool.

 

Lighting

Web cameras are pretty good at capturing reasonable video with relatively little light, but the more light we can provide the better we will look.

Here is my setup with just the light from my desk lamp.  That camera is doing a great job with such a small amount of light, but the quality is grainy and the side of my head is in shadow.  So is the back corner of the room.  Notice the annoying reflection of my computer monitor in my glasses...

 

Here is my setup with all lights on, including the desk lamp.  The lamp is a "warm" color and the other lights are all "cool" because I had daylight coming in a window from the left during the Autumn and I wanted the same color.  I can adjust the color of my lights...

Notice the reflection of the computer screen in my glasses is gone.  The rest of the lights overpower it.

 

Here is a video describing "three-point lighting," which is what I am doing...

My office is rather small and nowhere near as big as what is shown in the video.  Things don't have to be perfect.  I adapted my gear to my situation.

 

Here is my "key light" alone.  I have a "soft box" on it and have to keep the intensity down because it is very close to me in my small environment...

 

Here is my "fill light" alone.  I have a "soft box" on that one, too, and am bouncing it off the wall to reduce its intensity and diffuse the light more...

 

And here is my "back light" or "hair light" alone.  I do not have much hair, but happen to have a beard right now because it is Winter in Michigan...

Our Background

What we have in our background says a lot about us.

I have some things in my background that speak about me.

I love maps and the globe brings some context into what we are doing as we reconstruct our government.

The items on the wall are from my engineering career, and they were there before I ever learned about our political status or considered doing any web video.

The flag covers up a dark door that is distracting, and very importantly it signifies I am a man of peace and owed my unalienable rights, including my rights to free speech and to peaceably assemble.

People don't necessarily need to invest in special lights like I did, but understanding the concepts can lead to clever fixes and better presentations.

We have long ago (more than ten years) seized upon all Land Titles issued by the British Territorial United States Government. We will be rolling up all these deceptive "land descriptions" misapplied to purported "public trust" property and returning them to the lawful owners posthaste.

What Is A Michiganian And Why Should You Care?

The corporations that have been providing government services for 160 years are in big trouble.

What people consider to be "money" is not money and is disappearing.

Foreign criminals have been running the world for centuries, and they have been caught.  They are not happy about it and are causing all kinds of problems.

People have been lied to and lied to and lied to, all of their lives.  Almost everything they believe is not true.

There is safe haven, but it requires correction of political status.  People must act themselves.

That means publishing the following personal documents on the Public Record, as a minimum:

• Declaration of the Naturalization Act of July 1779.
• Witness Testimony Affirming American State Political Status and Identity (#1).
• Witness Testimony Affirming American State Political Status and Identity (#2).
  

Those things are required to open a Prosperity Account with Global Family Bank in order to obtain liquid assets to purchase goods, like food.

This is a rescue effort, and is top priority.  Do not wait.

Editorial: Herding Cats

Cats are sovereign.  They do what they want.

Americans are sovereign and can do what they want, provided they do not infringe upon the rights of others.

When Americans fulfill their responsibility to run their own governments, they give up some of their sovereignty to serve the people.

As we learn how to populate and reconstruct the Michigan State and county governments, we are learning we are a bunch of "cats" that must be herded by the Coordinator.  There is a job to do and we must work together to get it done.  We cannot do whatever we want.

The term "self governance" has been used a lot, and some people have heard it too much.  Many do not yet really comprehend what it means, but we are learning.

I believe self governance is learning how to be a "nice cat" and not a "mean cat."  It is learning to put "feline behaviors" aside for the good of the "glaring."  A glaring is a group of cats that do not know each other well.

The publisher of the Michiganian Free Press (MFP) is a "cat."  That is why the MFP exists!

This diagram shows the actual authorities in America at this time.  It is a simplification.

People (with a small "p") begin their lives as sovereigns on the Soil Jurisdiction of their nation, which is a physical state, such as michigan.  They are michiganians.  They have the right to do whatever they want, provided they do not infringe upon the unalienable rights of other sovereigns.  They are known as "state nationals," or American State Nationals (ASN).  They have no obligations to serve others or any government.

This claim of sovereignty is based upon the Norman Conquest...

The simple fact that the British Monarch has been in receipt of Delegated Powers of ours since 1787 is all the evidence needed to prove that we possessed sovereignty prior to the establishment of the Constitutions.  (AVR #1827, May 22, 2019)

When ASN's reach the age of 21, they can help elect State Citizens.  State Citizens have given up a portion of their sovereignty for a limited time to run the government.  State Citizens may hold an office, or they may simply sit on a jury.  When State Citizens are done serving and doing their job, they return to the sovereign status of an ASN.

In the past, State Citizens made business arrangements for government services, and those services are presently being provided by foreign-owned corporations.  Those corporations have created franchises.  All of them have employees.

Police officers are employees of those corporations.  They only have authority over the employees of those corporations and their dependents.  An example of a dependent would be someone receiving welfare payments.

Those employees and dependents are known as "citizens."  Employees and dependents of the Territorial corporation are called U.S. Citizens; those of the MUNICIPAL corporation are called citizens of the United States.  U.S. Citizens are effectively indentured servants of the Territorial corporation; and citizens of the United States are SLAVES of the Pope.

Most ASN's were unlawfully converted into both of those citizenships by the birth certificate fraud.

The former Michigan Coordinator is still digging...

 

Just like the American Federation of States (TASA) Fiduciary predicted (#4773), he continues to...

...make the rounds and seek to stir up trouble and "Federation Fear" among the other Coordinators, seeking to present himself as a victim and me as an unreasonable and unqualified person of no authority.

He has posted and emailed his defamatory, accusatory, and baseless documents wherever he has access, including the Fiduciary's inbox.  He seems to have "blind carbon copied" every single recorded American State National (ASN) on michigan with his screeds, which he was able to do because he had access to all of the State records.

Yesterday, Anna took time to send notice to all coordinators and all state assemblies about his behavior...

Once again, we have a troublemaker and loose canon in our ranks --- Paul Douglas Peterson, former Coordinator for the Michigan Assembly.

...

As things stand, he has stolen the money and the computer access and refused to turn over the keys to Amy Hunt, who agreed to step up and do the job he was supposed to be doing all along.  (AVR #4819)

We do not have enough information to judge "why" the former Coordinator is behaving this way, but the "what" is easy to see.  Evidence is accumulating.

If he was, in fact, sent to Michigan to "slow walk" and delay the reconstruction of the de jure government, he seems to be doing everything in his power to continue his purpose.

He is certainly behaving irrationally, like a wild animal caught in a trap.

Who, or what, is he afraid of?  Certainly not the michigan people or the Federation, at least for now.

The question is, what will he do when he "runs out of ammo?"

The New Michigan State Coordinator likened michigan to a large house.  Here is a paraphrase, with some embellishments...

The living room is a mess.  There are people waiting in the hallway to get in, and there are various people up in the bedrooms, down in the basement, in the garage, on the porch, and out on the lawn who have no idea what's been happening.

First, we need to get the living room cleaned up.  Then we can let those ASN's who are in the hallway into the living room and call out to everybody else to let them know they are welcome.

The previous Assembly was dissolved.  It no longer exists.  It had assets that need to be recovered, replicated, or rethought.  That is happening now.

Soon, all ASN's will be invited to join their Assembly, if that is their choice.

The general public will also soon be able to start seeing the Assembly and its proceedings.

Michigan has a lot of catching up to do.

The New Coordinator, Amy Hunt, has the full support of The United States of America, The Federation of States.

Editorial: Aftermath

The new Michigan Assembly (Version 4.0) is forming.  Each member must join; the former assembly no longer exists.  The process is simple, but serious.

AVR Updates the Story about the MGJA and Other Groups

Yesterday, Anna von Reitz published an article updating and clarifying her history and interactions with the MGJA and similar groups (#4761).  Rather than try to repeat or interpret anything, the Michiganian Free Press (MFP) simply encourages readers to read what she said.

The MFP published an earlier article trying to comprehend the attempts to reestablish and reconstruct the de jure government on michigan.  That article referenced a MFP Special Report chronicling in detail the recent history of michigan assemblies.  That report was largely based on AVR articles.

The MFP appreciates Anna taking the time to help everyone understand what happened and to build bridges with people.

The MFP believes everyone on michigan needs to set aside their parochial views, grasp "the big picture," and work together to provide the de jure government that existed until it was displaced in the 1860's, and that the michigan people are owed.

If there are any errors in what the MFP has published, it would like to know specifically what they are so they can be corrected.  There has certainly been no intention to misrepresent anything.

This is a complicated and long story, and the MFP has simply been attempting to study and comprehend history in order to avoid repeating it, and has tried to help others do the same.

Layers of Protection

Things happen.

"Risk" is a combination of "Consequences" and "Likelihood."

If a hazard is of little consequence and unlikely, people tend to judge the risk as broadly acceptable (green).

If a hazard can lead to bad consequences but is unlikely, people may view the risk as acceptable (yellow).

If something is frequent but not much of a problem, people might put up with it (yellow).

The really bad situations are those where the consequences are bad and they happen frequently or are certain to happen.  Most people would agree those are risks that should be avoided (red).

The chart, above, is a generic risk matrix.  They are used to analyze risk.

For example, this is how risk from a building fire might be analyzed...

In this example, if the worst thing to happen in a particular building fire is one death, it might be shown like this in the scale of consequences, something to definitely avoid.

If the worst thing to happen in the fire is someone goes to the hospital with smoke inhalation, it would probably be judged to be acceptable because they would be treated and recover.  There would be no lasting harm.

If there were multiple fatalities, that would be worse and certainly something to avoid.

How do we reduce the risk of bad consequences from a building fire?  We introduce "layers of protection" to reduce the likelihood of it happening.

The consequence would still be someone dying, but we add enough independent protections to push the situation into the green.

Architects, engineers, and fire prevention experts have learned how to construct buildings so they are less susceptible to fire.  They use steel, concrete, and drywall because those things do not burn.  That reduces the risk of fire in the first place.

Installing a sprinkler system to control and possibly extinguish a fire is a separate layer of protection.

A trained and experienced fire department with modern, reliable equipment that can quickly respond is another layer of protection.

And finally, a fire alarm system can warn people so they can evacuate the building.

All of these things combine to reduce the risk of somebody dying in a building fire.  People living in society take these things for granted and are perfectly comfortable being in modern buildings.  They see the risk as broadly acceptable.

In this accident, it appears nobody was hurt, but if there had been a passenger in the front seat the situation would have been tragic.

The guardrail was there as a layer of protection to prevent someone from traveling off the road, but in this case it proved to be a hazard itself.

Automobile design, highway design, and guardrail design all influenced the outcome.

Operator training, experience, and operating conventions such as speed limits were also relevant.

Whoever was in control of this conveyance (pickup truck) probably fell asleep.  The "rumble strips" along the edge of the road were a layer of protection, but did not prevent the accident in this case.

A proximity alarm may be available in some newer, high-end pickup trucks, but was probably not a feature in this older model.

Seat belts and airbags are definitely layers of protection, but they would not have helped in this case.

Race car drivers utilize more layers of protection because the likelihood of them being in a crash is greater.  They wear helmets, gloves, fire resistant or fireproof clothing, and have much more substantial restraint gear to keep them relatively safe.

American Government has layers of protection.  Some of them are specifically stipulated in Amendments to the Constitutions with the subcontractors...

• Freedom of speech.
• Freedom of the press.
• The right to peaceably assemble.
• The right to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
• The right to keep and bear arms.
• Etc.

Robust debate is another protection.

Public meetings are a protection.

Public records are a protection.

These things all reduce the risk of despotism.

 

Editorial: Marshal At Arms

The Michigan Assembly (TMA) got to see how a Marshal at Arms operates during the Special Meeting yesterday.

Joe Hayes of the Peace Keeping Task Force (PKTF) acted as Marshal at Arms for that particular occasion, and the Assembly appreciated his service and example.

The publisher of the Michiganian Free Press lived on wales and england for several years.

When people learn to travel in a private conveyance (drive a car) on those countries, the rules state there must be an "L plate" on the conveyance to indicate they are a novice learner.

People must practice before they are ready to take the road test.

The same is true with the roles in an American Assembly.  People must be "learners" before they are actually ready to do the job.  That is the purpose of the Assembling Phase of reconstruction.

The Michiganian Free Press suggests people start practicing the role of Marshal at Arms during TMA meetings.

Let them do what Joe Hayes did yesterday.  Let them learn.  Let everybody give it a try during different meetings, if they want.  Practice, practice, practice.

Then, when Elections are eventually held, everyone will know who should be The Michigan Assembly Marshal at Arms.

Project Management 102: Sequence

When people build a house, they must do things in sequence.

The first things to do are obtain plans, acquire land, and hire a builder.  The next thing is to dig a hole.  Then the basement and foundation can be poured.

Eventually, appliances can be installed and the dining room can be decorated.

The wife cannot decorate the dining room if the hole has not been dug, although she can shop for the chandelier.

Projects must be done in sequence.  Project managers sometimes use Gantt Charts to illustrate the sequence.  The picture, above, is one of those charts.

Some things must be done sequentially, and some things can be done in parallel.

Project managers often ask the question, "What can we start doing now?"

When I joined The Michigan Assembly (TMA) a year ago, the folks were working on sending out notices to Defacto courts and Sheriffs.  All DISTRICT COURTS and all State of Michigan Sheriffs received packages of information (picture).

The Michigan Coordinator signed all of them, so it was logical he would be attacked, and he was.

The Assembly did those notices because, apparently, other State Assemblies were doing them, or they were talking about doing them.  I believe Michigan led the way in some of this work.

In hindsight, was this getting things out of sequence?  Would it have been better to have The Pillars up and Land Jurisdiction Courts operational before challenging the Defacto employees?

It is only an academic question at this point.
